“Geopolitical Competition, Leadership & Alliances: Geopolitics of Energy” Seminar

“Within the educational framework of our “Seminar Series” in the MSc in Shipping Management program, we were delighted to have Professor Athanasios Platias and Professor Konstantina Botsiou giving us a 2-day seminar entitled “Geopolitical Competition, Leadership & Alliances: Geopolitics of Energy”, held on the 26th and 28th of November.

Given the substantial influence of geopolitical factors on the global shipping and energy industries, the seminar’s focus is on the geopolitics of energy was particularly significant. Leveraging their expertise, Professors Platias and Botsiou enriched the students’ understanding by offering in-depth insights into the complexities of geopolitics, alliances, and leadership.

The discussions also explored historical trends in geopolitical competition, the role of ideology in international relations, and the dynamics of alliances for both small powers and superpowers.

We extend our deepest appreciation to Professors Athanasios Platias and Konstantina Botsiou for their invaluable contribution to our MSc in Shipping Management curriculum activities.”
