DIALOGUES WITH THE INDUSTRY – Minerva Marine’s ATHINA Maritime Training and Development Centre

As part of our Program’s educational initiative, Dialogues with the Industry, students and faculty had the opportunity to visit Minerva Marine’s ATHINA Maritime Training and Development Centre. This visit provided an invaluable experience, allowing our students to explore a cutting-edge maritime training facility and appreciate the significance of continuous learning in the industry.

During the visit, Mr. Stelios Volakis and Mr. Konstantinos Batsis offered valuable insights into Minerva Marine’s operations while Ms. Aliki Kapella provided expert knowledge on vetting and OCIMF, introducing students to SIRE 2.0. Additionally, Ms. Marina Drania, HR Generalist, delivered an in-depth presentation on the recruitment process for onshore personnel and Mrs. Eleni Georgara, Freight & Demurrage Analyst, introduced students to the key functions of the Freight, Demurrage, and Defense (FD&D) Department. Finally Cpt. Papanikolaou offered our students hands-on demonstrations in the ship bridge and engine room simulators. The visit concluded with an engaging discussion between students, faculty and Minerva personnel, exchanging perspectives on new regulations and their anticipated impact on the future of the shipping industry.

We are especially grateful to all of Martino’s MINERVA family, for their hosting and valuable contributions.
