DIALOGUES WITH THE INDUSTRY – MINERVA MARINE / ATHINA MARITIME TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT CENTER

In the framework of our Program’s established educational initiative entitled “Dialogues with the Industry” students and faculty visited Minerva Marine’s ATHINA Maritime Training and Development Centre offices, named after Mrs. Athina (Nounou) Martinou. There, our students had the opportunity to explore a state-of-the-art maritime training and development center and understand the importance of continuous learning.

Mrs. Alexia Bani provided insights into the company’s operations, while Mrs. Aliki Kapella shared expert knowledge on vetting and OCIMF, including an introduction to SIRE 2.0. Very appreciative of Mr. Stelios Volakis for the engaging tour of ATHINA Maritime Learning and Development Center’s laboratories, and of Capt. Meletis Mexis and Mr. Konstantinos Batsis for giving our students the opportunity to experience demonstrations on the ship bridge and engine room simulators.

After the tour, Mrs. Eleni Savva, Head of HR and Mrs. Katerina Glezou, HR Business Partner, provided in-depth presentations about the recruitment process for onshore personnel.

Our visit concluded with a lively discussion between our students, faculty, and Minerva personnel, exchanging opinions regarding new regulations and how they will impact the shipping industry in the coming years.
