Master of Science in Shipping Management

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2023-2024 INTAKE

The Department of Maritime Studies of the University of Piraeus/Greece announces the commencement of the 6th cycle of its postgraduate academic program for the academic year 2023-2024, leading to the award of a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in “Shipping Management” and accepts applications from eligible candidates.

The program is an intensive 12 months full-time course of two (2) academic semesters and a summer period, taught and accessed in English, starting in October 2023 and finishing in September 2024. It holds an ISO 9001:2015 certification by Lloyds Register and has been accredited and granted 3-4/7 exemptions by the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers.

The Program accepts EU and International Universities Graduates’ applications (1st Cycle studies, Bachelor’s Degree) preferably holding a relevant to this program Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc., B.Eng., B.A.) with excellent or very good academic results and strong interest for the maritime field. Masters (A’ Class) under specific conditions may also apply.

Course attendance is mandatory for all students. The course meetings of the twelve modules (nine (9) compulsory and three (3) optional selected from a list of seven (7)), will take place on flexible working hours during the afternoon (midweek) or weekend.

The Committee of the Program according to their qualifications/experiences ranks students at the beginning of the second semester to attend between:

  • Α subsidized eight (8) week practical training in a shipping company in Piraeus/ Greece orabroad.

or

  • A Master thesis.

The total number of credits (ECTS) of this academic program MSc in Shipping Management is 75.

The fees of the Program are €7,000€, paid in proportional installments at the beginning of each semester of full-time or part-time study. Please confirm exact fees with Program’s Administration Lead prior to applying.

The Program may (at its full discretion) offer scholarships to a number of exceptional students.

Eligible applications will be assessed on an ongoing basis up to the completion of the offered places.

Applicants are requested to submit relevant information for their application assessment and at least the following:

  • Application for registration stating that they have read and understood the information provided on the site for the program
  • Curriculum vitae not exceeding 4 pages
  • Copy of their first degree or an official transcript of completion of studies
  • A transcript of their course and grades received/taken,
  • Two letters of recommendation, one of which by an academic faculty member (AEI, ATEI).
  • Proof of professional or research activity, or professional certificationsif any (i.e. Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, CFA etc)
  • Any Certificate of proof of very good competency of English language unless the students have completed an academic program (BSc, M.A, MSc, MBA) taught and assessed in English.
  • A personal statement stating applicant’s motivation to follow the program and that the candidate is aware of and accepts all Regulations of the Post graduate course mentioned therein.
  • Formal declaration stating that the candidate has been informed and agrees with the Rules and Regulations of the Department and the Program
